Alfred obtained Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Hong Kong in 1984 and Post-Graduate Certificate in Laws in 1985. Alfred also got a Bachelor of Social Science degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1979. Alfred served his articled clerkship in Hong Kong with Messrs. Woo, Kwan, Lee & Lo receiving training in its Litigation, Commercial and Conveyancing Departments. Alfred was admitted to the Supreme Court of Hong Kong as a solicitor in 1987. Practised as a solicitor in the firm of Ford, Kwan & Co. since 1987 and as a consultant of Ford, Kwan & Co. from 1989 to 1996. In July 1996, Alfred set up the existing firm with partner Mr. S. K. Lam.

Alfred was also enrolled as a solicitor in England, High Court of Australia and Singapore. The major areas of practice of Alfred are Litigation, Commercial and Conveyancing. Alfred also handles a lot of compliance and intellectual properties related works.

Alfred was accredited by the Law Society and the HKMAAL as an accredited General Mediator. Alfred is also currently a committee member of the Standing Committee on Compliance of the Law Society of Hong Kong.
